Exporting Content

You can export content to different types of files.


Before you begin: Create and save an object.
  1. In the top bar, click Share > Export.
  2. In the Required section, click the selection arrow in the Format field, and choose any type of file like, for example, 3D XML, STEP, IGES, SOLIDWORKS, or CATIA.
  3. Enter a name for the object in the Filename field.
  4. Open the Target box, and select a space.
    • Select File on disk (a selected location on a disk), if the DLName setting is activated.
    • Select File on disk, or Exchange Space, if the DLName setting is deactivated.
    • Select 3D Drive to export the content to one of your 3D Drive folders or a folder you have access to.
    • Select Collaborative space to export SOLIDWORKS files. The name of the current collaborative space appears in the Location box.

  5. Select a location to save the file in the Location box:

    File on diskYou can browse, and select the path to write the file (to the disk), or enter the path manually. If the manually entered directory does not exist, a warning appears.
    Exchange spaceThe content is exported either in a project space, or a team workspace. The directory browser displays the existing project spaces, and team workspaces. You can use the embedded internal browser to select the project or workspace, and navigate on the sub folders. You can select one or more folders.
    3D Drive

    The location field lets you select the folder where 3DXML files and other formats are uploaded to 3D Drive.

    The Location field is updated with the last 3D Drive folder you connected to in the session, or is empty if you are using 3D Drive for the first time.

    Click next to the Location field or use the embedded browser to navigate and select a 3D Drive folder.

    Using the toolbar in the browser, you can create a new folder, and delete it. You can also rename this new folder using the context menu.

    Note: If you create several folders in the browser, only the folder used as the location for the export will be created and uploaded.

    Collaborative spaceIf you select the Collaborative space target, the Location field will be disabled.
  6. In the Options section, click the Report tab.
  7. Select the Save Report check box, to save the generated report in a specific location.
    Notes:
    • You can edit the report name while exporting documents, if you chose the target as File on Disk, 3D Drive, or Exchange Space.
    • If the DLName setting is activated, the Location field of the Report tab contains the defined DLName, or a default DLName.
    • If you select the target File on Disk., you can choose a location to save the report,
    • If you select the target 3D Drive, the report is not uploaded to the 3D Drive folder.

    A warning message appears if you try to export a catalog, that contains entities that cannot be exported. All the other contents of the catalog are successfully exported.
