About Nominal Size Management for Reducers

The nominal size of reducers is not managed through the manual edition of the Nominal Size attribute in Properties dialog box. When a reducer is connected to piping objects, its nominal size is automatically updated.

This page discusses:

The nominal size of a reducer cannot be modified in Common Attribute section of the piping properties.

The nominal size for multiports is in read-only for identical or different multiport sizes.

Propagation Rules

The rules for the propagation of the nominal size attribute for reducers are as follows:

  • If the reducer is inserted at the end of a route, the nominal size of the route is propagated to the reducer.
  • If the reducer is inserted on a route then both of its ports is updated with the nominal size of the route.
  • If the reducer is inserted at the end of a route that is connected to a component, the reducer’s multiport size is updated according to the connect objects.
  • If a pipe or part is connected to a reducer using Connect Symbols, the attributes of the reducer are the same as the connected pipe or parts.
  • If a route connected to a reducer is to be merged and is selected as a second selection during the Merge Route, this connected route is deleted and the reducer is connected to the first selected route. The reducer nominal size is updated.
  • If a newly created route starts from a reducer or ends with a reducer, its attribute is propagated to the connected reducer.

Modifying Nominal Size

If the attributes of a pipe and parts connected to a reducer are changed by editing its properties or using the Spreadsheet, the attributes of the reducer are automatically updated.

Nominal size of a reducer can be edited using Propagate Nominal Size Attribute and to always remain synchronized with connected objects.
