Specifications Folder Detail Page

A specifications folder's detail page, by default, shows a structured view of the folder and all specifications that it contains. You can use specifications folders to organize related specifications.

Required access roles:

  • Baseline: Reader, Author, or Leader

To access this page, from a specifications list, select the specifications folder's name. See Requirement Specifications Page.

Columns

Column Name Description
NameThe name of the item in the specifications folder structure. This can be an autoname. The icon identifies the type of item:

Specification

Click the name to open the object.

TitleThe specification folder's short descriptive title. This title is used in all lists in which the specification folder appears.
OwnerThe person who owns the specification folder.
Configuration Context The configuration context that is required to configure product revision or feature option effectivity for requirements in specifications within the folder. See Configuring Criteria.
Effectivity

The effectivity defined for this object. You can edit the effectivity in this cell in edit mode. See Working With Effectivity.

Action Description
Insert New > Specifications Folder Creates a new specifications folder from scratch and links it to the specification folder.
Insert New > Requirement Specification Creates a new specification from scratch and links it to the specification folder.
Insert Existing > Specifications Folder Links an existing specification folder to the specification folder.
Insert Existing > Requirement Specification Links an existing specification to the specification.
Delete/Detach > Delete Selected Folders Removes the selected specifications folder from the structure and deletes them from the database. Click OK to confirm.
Note: You cannot delete a specifications folder that includes objects reserved by another user.
Delete/Detach > Detach Sub Folder Removes the selected sub folders from the structure, but does not delete them from the database. Click OK to confirm.
Delete/Detach > Detach Specification Removes the selected specifications from the structure, but does not delete them from the database. Click OK to confirm.
Configuration Management > Add Contexts Adds a model configuration context to the selected objects.
Configuration Management > Remove Contexts Removes the model's configuration context from the selected objects. Click OK to confirm.
Revision Creates a new revision of the specifications folder in the structure.
Replace by New Revision Creates a new revision of the selected object in this location in the structure.
Replace by Last Revision Links the latest revision of the selected object in this location in the structure.

Contextual Menu for Specifications Folders and Specifications

Right-click on any specifications folder or specification in the structure display to access the available contextual commands.

Action Description
Expand All Expands all of the objects under the specifications folders and specifications.
Collapse All Collapses all of the objects under the specifications folders and specifications.
Select Direct Children Selects all of the direct children objects of the specifications folders and specifications.
Unselect Direct Children Unselects the direct children objects of the specifications folders and specifications.
Select All Descendants Selects all descendant objects (children and their children) of the specifications folders and specifications.
Unselect All Descendants Unselects all descendant objects (children and their children) of the specifications folder or specification.
Insert New > Specifications Folder Creates a new specifications folder from scratch and links it to the specification folder.
Insert New > Requirement Specification Creates a new specification from scratch and links it to the specification folder.
Insert Existing > Specifications Folder Links an existing specification folder as a child of the selected specification folder.
Insert Existing > Requirement Specification Links an existing specification to the specifications folder.
Attributes Shows the property attributes of the specifications folder or specification.
Lifecycle Shows the Lifecycle, Tasks/Signatures, and Approvals tabs of the specifications folder or specification in a new browser window.
Add to Collection > Add to Clipboard Adds the selected specification or specifications folder to your clipboard.
Add to Collection > New/Add to Collections Adds the selected specification or specifications folder to a new or existing collection.
