Defects Page

Several pages list defects and summarize the details for each defect.

Required access roles:

  • App-specific: Defect Engineer
  • Baseline: Author, Reader, or user with Review and Approve (RWA) license

To access this list, do any of the following:

  • From an open defect, in the navigation pane select Duplicates.
  • From an open defect, in the navigation pane select Related.
  • From an open model version, in the navigation pane select Defect Management, then select the Reported Defects tab.
  • From an open model version, in the navigation pane select Defect Management, then select the Also Against tab.

The columns that display on these pages are mostly the same for all pages, but the actions you can take depend on which page you are viewing and what role you are assigned.

Columns

Column NameDescription
Basics:
Name The name of the defect (usually an autoname). Click to open for the defect. See Defect Properties.
TitleA brief description of the defect.
Description A more detailed description of the defect.
DispositionsThe number of the dispositions associated with the defect and in parentheses, the total number of model versions that are affected by the defect (for which dispositions will be required). Click to open the Dispositions page for the defect. See Dispositions Page.

This column does not display on the Duplicates and Related pages.

State The current lifecycle state of the defect:

StateDescription
Submit Additional details need to be provided for the defect.
EvaluateAll the needed details have been entered and the defect is ready for assessment.
OpenThe defect is being worked on and there are one or more defect actions associated with the defect.
ClosedAll defect actions associated with the defect have been completed and the defect is considered resolved.
RejectedThe Defect Manager determined that the problem is not considered a defect.

PriorityThe priority of the defect, a value from P0 (the highest priority) to P3 (the lowest priority).
SeverityHow severe the defect is, a value from S0 (the highest severity) to S3 (the lowest severity).
OwnerThe person responsible for managing the defect and its fix. This is the person who has the lead responsibility for the Defect Manager role for the organization that has design responsibility for the model version.
Originated Date The date the defect was created.
OriginatorThe person who created the defect. Click to open that person's information. See Collaboration and Approvals User's Guide: Person Properties.
Status:

This section does not show on the Duplicates or Related pages.

Reason for Rejection If the defect was rejected, this is the reason it was rejected.
Reporting Information:
Reported AgainstThe model version revision in use when the defect was found. Click to open the model version. The Also Against page lists additional model versions that the defect affects, but was not reported against.
Reporting OrganizationThe organization of the person who reported the defect. Click to open the organization.
(Edit Details)Click to edit the properties for the defect. See Editing a Defect's Properties.
(New Window) Click to open the defect in a new window. See Defect Properties.

Actions/Toolbar Commands

These actions are available on the Reported Defects page and Defects Also Against page.

ActionDescriptionFor More Information
Mass Reject Rejects the selected defects. All selected defects must be in the Submit or Evaluate state, or if Open, all defect actions must be closed.

The same reason for rejection and notes are entered for each selected defect.

Rejecting a Defect
Delete Deletes the selected defects. Click OK to confirm.-
Copy Copies the details of the selected defect to a new defect. The newly-created defect is then listed as a related defect for the original defect.Copying a Defect
Edit Toggles the page to edit mode. You can edit defect information in the individual marked fields or use the Mass Update menu to update the information for a field in all defects at once.3DEXPERIENCE Basics: Structured Content in Edit Mode
View Toggles the page to view mode. All of the information is read-only.-

Mark as DuplicateOpens a search page where you select another defect to indicate that this defect duplicates that existing defect.

After selecting the duplicate, this defect is promoted to the Rejected state and "Duplicate" is entered for the Reason for Rejection. This defect is listed in the Duplicates page for the selected defect.

About Searches
Remove Removes the selected defects from the list; click OK to confirm.-
