Creating a Disposition

You can create a disposition for a defect to indicate how it is being disposed of, or mitigated, for a model version revision. You can also link this disposition to the defect action that mitigates the defect in a model version revision.

Required access roles:

  • App-specific: Defect Engineer
  • Baseline: Author


Before you begin: Open the Affecting Open Defects report or the Affecting Waived Defect report for the model version revision. See Affecting Open or Waived Defects Reports.

  1. Click Enable Edit .
    The fields in the Disposition Information section of the page are now editable for each listed defect.
  2. In the row listing the defect for which you want to create a disposition, enter details in these fields:

    Field NameDescription
    Disposition TypeSelect the type of disposition used to address the defect from the list:
    • Errata
    • No Fix
    • Not Impacted
    • Spec Change
    • To Fix
    Disposition TitleType the short disposition title.
    Disposition DescriptionType a more detailed description of the defect's disposition.
    Defect Action NameBegin typing the defect action name and select it from the list or click to open a search page where you select the defect action to be associated with the disposition.

    Note: You can create dispositions for multiple defects by editing those rows before saving your changes.

  3. Click Save.
    The defect disposition information is updated. The Defect Action Title and Defect Action State associated with any defect action that you selected are automatically added to the defect's Disposition Information section.

The disposition is now associated with the defect and the selected defect action for the model version revision.

Tip: You can associate the new defect disposition with another model version revision affected by the same defect if it is being disposed of in the same way in that model version revision. See Aligning or Copying Dispositions Between Model Version Revisions.
