Content Categories
Depending on your access role, you can create and manage the following types of
content with Simulation Process
Administration:
Content Type |
Category |
Simulation Attribute
Group |
Definition |
Simulation Attribute |
Resource* |
Simulation Connector |
Definition |
Note:
Simulation Attribute is not a business type. However, the management of
attributes when used with attribute groups is considered Resource data for
access purposes.
The content you can access and the tasks you can perform depend on your access role.
For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE
Platform: Content Categories.
Access Roles
Restricted roles allow partners to access content owned by their company within a
specific collaborative space. The table below describes the level of access for
restricted roles for design tasks. For more information, see Restricted Responsibilities.
Access Role |
Description |
Reader (Restricted) |
Has read access to any content owned by their
organization. |
Contributor (Restricted) |
For content owned by their organization, can
perform the same actions as a Contributor. |
Author (Restricted) |
For content owned by their organization, can
perform the same actions as an Author. |
Leader (Restricted) |
For content owned by their organization, can
perform the same actions as a Leader. |
The Owner (Restricted) access role can perform the same actions as an Owner for content owned by their organization.
On premises only: if your
company chose to use app-specific responsibilities instead of the baseline
responsibilities, the following table shows how the responsibilities map to each
other for design tasks.
Baseline Access Role |
Description |
Reader
|
Can access simulation content only in the Frozen, Released,
or Obsolete state.
|
Contributor
|
Uses predefined objects, such as experiences, attribute
groups, and connectors, to create and run simulation
processes and simulation activities.
Can also do the following:
- Modify connector options.
- Create download, upload, and delete rules.
- Add an attribute group to simulation processes and
simulation activities.
- Define the parameters and attributes of a simulation
process.
- Copy references or documents with content.
- Create documents or links to documents.
- Put common content into documents.
- Specify the download, upload, and delete rules for
documents.
- Run simulation processes and activities.
- Create revisions.
- Perform PLM collaborative tasks, such as initiating
a review.
|
Author
|
Creates and configures simulation processes and simulation
activities that can be used as experiences by the simulation
analyst. Also creates the following:
- Connectors that a simulation activity uses to run
simulation applications and define the arguments and
options that will be available to the simulation
analyst.
- Simulation experiences
Can do the following:
- Create an attribute group and delete an attribute
group that the Owner owns.
- Add and remove attributes from the attribute
group.
- Modify the properties of an attribute in the
attribute group.
A person with the role of Author cannot create attributes. |
Leader
|
Reviews simulation objects in the review lifecycle state and
determines if they can be promoted to the next lifecycle
state.
Can do the following:
- Create, modify, and delete an attribute group.
- Create, modify, and delete an attribute.
|
Owner
|
Provides other users access to simulation
objects to which the Owner already has access. |
Your business administrator can configure rules that change the default access behavior.
On premises only: Your business administrator can change the default responsibilities that
control your access to commands, content, and collaborative spaces. Companies can also
implement additional customized responsibilities.
This guide describes the default behavior when describing access to content
or commands.
Your access to content or commands is determined by more
than your responsibility. The current collaborative space, your organization, the
current lifecycle state of the content, the app
you are using, and other customizations all affect whether you can access content or
commands. You might have access to some content or commands only under certain
conditions.
For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE
Platform: Responsibilities.
Content Lifecycle
The lifecycle states of a connector are Private,
Development, Complete,
Released, and Obsolete. The
following rules apply to these lifecycle states:
- The Simulation Methods Developer must grant read access to make a simulation connector available to a Simulation Analyst.
- The Simulation Methods Developer can edit a simulation connector only in the
Development state.
- The Simulation Methods Developer cannot demote the state from Complete or
Released to Development if
the simulation connector is used in a simulation process or simulation
activity.
- The Simulation Methods Developer should not promote the simulation connector to the
Complete state until it is complete and has been
tested. The connector cannot be modified in the
Complete state, and it cannot be demoted after it
has been assigned to a simulation activity.
- To modify a simulation connector that has been promoted to the
Released state and assigned to a simulation
activity, you must create a revision of the simulation connector, modify the
revision, and assign the revision to the simulation activity.

Platform: Content Lifecycle.
