You can view iteration information in the Iteration column in the SOLIDWORKS task pane and the File View pane in Windows Explorer.
A iteration for a design is composed of two pairs of letters and numbers. In the example above, the iteration of the assembly is A.0/A.0.
- The letters are revision indicators. In the example, 'A' represents the first revision of the design. You can choose to increment the revision number when a design reaches a significant milestone.
- The numerals are iteration indicators. Every time you check a modified file into the database a new iteration is created.
- The letter and number pair to the left of the / are the revision and iteration in the local database view. The letter and number pair to the right are the revision and iteration in the database.
In the 3DEXPERIENCE task pane in SOLIDWORKS, symbols indicate the iteration in the local cache in relation to the iteration on the server.
In both SOLIDWORKS and the local database view in Windows Explorer, you can also view iteration information in the these dialog boxes:
- Check In - The Local Iter. text is black and bold when a change to the local iteration can cause a new iteration. It is gray if no change has been made. The New Iter. text is black and bold if the command is to create a new iteration or revision. It is gray if the iteration remains unchanged.
- Check Out - The Local Iter. text is black and bold if the command is to retrieve the file. It is gray if the right iteration is present in the local cache.
- Get- The Local Iter. text is black if the retrieved file can overwrite changes to the file in the local cache that have not been checked in. The Iteration text is black if the retrieved file is to change the iteration of the file in the local cache.
- History - Iteration displays the iteration information.
