Work Flow for Creating a Mold

You can create a mold model using the Mold Features section of the action bar.


Before you begin: Open an existing part or import a model in xMold.

You can Import the model using the import option on the Landing Page. You can also import from the standard area of the action bar.

Importing Geometry

  1. Create a Pulling Direction to define the core and the cavity to pull apart. See Pulling Direction.
  2. Create a Parting Line of the model where the core and cavity side of the mold meet. See Parting Line.
  3. Create Shut-Off Surfaces to fill up any holes or openings in the model. See Shut-Off Surfaces.
  4. Create a Parting Surface where the mold splits into core and cavity. See Parting Surfaces.
  5. Create a Tooling Split to automatically split the mold into core and cavity. See Tooling Split.
  6. Optional: Use Insert to fill left over holes or to create a cavity over the required area of the mold. See Insert.
