Editing As-Built BOM

Users who have the role of Manufacturer Planner or Product Planner can make changes to the attributes of the units in an As-Built BOM in edit mode with the filter set to Current. In edit mode you can install, uninstall, allocate and deallocate units. The fields that can be edited have a mark in the upper corner of the cell.

Adding, Modifying, or Removing Items

Before you begin: View the As-Built BOM page. See As-Built BOM Page.
  1. From the page toolbar, click Edit All. The button name toggles to View All to allow you to return to view mode. You can expand / collapse each level of the BOM by clicking the plus (+) / minus (-) buttons to the left of the build or lot name.
  2. You can edit multiple units simultaneously using Mass Update, or use in-cell editing to make changes to individual fields. To use in-cell editing, click the cell you want to change and select or type the change you want to make. To use Mass Update:
    1. If you want to make changes only to certain items, first select the items.
    2. From the Mass Update menu, select the attribute you want to change.
      Depending on which attribute you choose, you will see one of the following: a text box, a list, a calendar, or a chooser.
    3. Select or type the change you want to make.
    4. Click Apply to Selected or Apply to All.
    The Name column shows different icons to indicate which type of changes have been made. Changes are shown in the table columns in italics.
    • . Indicates items have been added. Details about the added items are shown in green text.
    • . Indicates items have been modified. Details are shown in black next to red strike-through text.
    • . Indicates items have been removed. Details about the removed item are shown in red strike-through text.
  3. To replace an existing unit (build or lot) with a different one, enter or search for a unit using the Replace field on the page toolbar. See Replace.
  4. From the page Actions menu or toolbar, click any of the following to work with the BOM.

    Certain commands are available only after selecting a unit.

    DeleteDelete and disconnect one or more selected units from the parent build. Only users with delete access can perform this function and only units that have no child units can be deleted. Otherwise, an error message is displayed.-

    The Install, Allocate, Uninstall, and Deallocate actions are also available by selecting a build and using right-click.

  5. Click Apply to update all changes made in the BOM.

Replace

The Replace action replaces a previously allocated or installed unit (build or lot) with another unit. Only an installed or allocated child unit can be replaced using this function. Uninstalled units cannot be replaced.

  1. Click from the page toolbar. The Matching Criteria form opens.
  2. Select the criteria you want to match:
    • Name
    • Shorthand Notation
    • Serial Number
  3. Click Done.
  4. Enter or search for the unit to be replaced and the unit to replace it in the Replace box in the page toolbar. See About Searches.
  5. Click to submit the action. The matching rows are highlighted.
  6. Click Apply.

The As-Built view is refreshed with the replaced unit. The successful replacement of the build depends on the status of the replaced unit.

  • If the status of the selected unit is Allocated, the replacing unit is connected to the parent build of the selected build with the system date changed to the allocated date and status changed to Allocated.
  • If the status of the selected unit is Installed, the replacing unit is connected to the parent build of the selected build with the system date changed to the installed date and status remains the same.
