Formulation Design obtains material information from the materials database. This database contains records for the materials that you can use as ingredients in your formula. A materials registrar and a materials manager manage materials using the Materials Registration and Materials Management apps.

Composite Ingredients

If a material is made up of multiple constituent substances, it is a composite ingredient. Composite ingredients are indicated in the formula grid by a in their icon column.

You can expand a composite ingredient to view its constituent substances.

Using Formulated Materials as Ingredients

For every formula in the Reviewed state, a material exists in the materials database. You can use this formulated material as an ingredient in other formulas. For more information, see Using Formulated Materials as Ingredients.
