Managing Related Objects

You can manage the related objects added to an issue from the list of issues or from the Related Objects information tab for an issue.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Use one of these methods to display the related objects for an issue:

List of issues
  1. View the list of issues.
  2. Expand the required issue to display the related objects.
Related Objects tab for a specific issue
  1. In the list of issues, select the required issue.
  2. Click Information.
  3. Click Related Objects.
  4. In the sections for Affected Items, Resolved by, and Contexts, you can click to pick an item or click to add an item.
  5. Click to remove an item.

Open the Related Object

You can open an object in an app that can work with that object.

  1. Select the object you want to open.
    ContextDescription
    List of issues Right-click the required issue and select Open > Reported against or Open > Resolved by.
    Related Objects tab for a specific issue Right-click an object and select Open with.
  2. Select the required app.

Manage the Lifecycle and Collaboration of an Object

You can use Maturity States to work with a related object's maturity state, or to share or change ownership of a related object.

  1. Right-click the required object and select Collaborative Lifecycle.
  2. Use Maturity States to make any required lifecycle or collaboration changes.

Compare an Object

You can compare a related object with another object.

Right-click the required object and select Compare.
The object opens in Compare where you can add another object to compare it with. Not all objects can be compared.

Replace by Revision

You can replace a related object with a revision of that object.

Right-click the object and click Replace by revision.
OptionDescription
Replace by revision > Replace by released latest revision Replaces this object with the latest revision that is in the Released state.
Replace by revision > Replace by stable latest revision Replaces this object with the latest revision in the Frozen or Released state.
Replace by revision > Replace by latest revision Replaces this object with the latest revision regardless of the revision's state.

Remove a Related Object

You can remove a related object from an issue.

  1. Right-click the object and select Remove .
  2. Click Remove to confirm.

    If you remove the original reported against object (the owner of which determines the responsible organization for the issue), the app does not automatically change the responsible organization to the owner of a subsequent reported against object. If you want to change the organization, you can edit the Properties to do so.

Download a Related Object

You can download a related object for an issue.

Right-click the object and select Download.

View Objects Related to the Related Object

You can view objects related to any of an issue's related objects.

Right-click the object and select Relations.

You can view information about any related object.

Right-click the object and select Information.

The available tabs vary depending on the type of attachment. For more information, see the user's guide for the app that creates and manages the object type.
