To open your apps, you can:

  • Find apps using the apps Search from the Compass. For more information, see About the Compass.
  • Filter apps by activating or deactivating roles. For more information, see About Roles.
  • Define favorite apps for quicker access. For more information, see Defining Favorite Apps.

Some apps have an equivalent app of another type. For example, Collaborative Lifecycle is available as both a native and a dashboard app. The unique icon lets you determine which one to start. You can start three kinds of apps from the Compass:

Dashboard App

Dashboard apps open in a dashboard, and you can pin them as widgets to a dashboard tab.

For more information, see About Dashboards and Widgets.

Native App

A native app is installed on a user's device (computer, tablet, mobile phone). You can install the app from a media or directly from the cloud through the Compass. For more information, see Installing Native Apps on the Cloud.

Web App

A web app is an app that opens in a separate web browser tab and not in a dashboard.

To set your apps layout click Preferences > Apps Layout and select either of the following:

  • Large Apps
  • Compact Apps

If you have access to multiple platforms or installations for a native app, a list displays when you select either or on the right of the app icon. Select the appropriate platform or installation to work with.

To set your platform preferences for your apps, click Preferences > Platform Selection, and select either of the following:

Note: Platform selection is only available when accessing your 3DEXPERIENCE platform using a browser. By default when working in a native-app environment, your apps are those linked to the current platform.

  • Current Platform. Displays:
    • Under the ME section, the apps linked to the current platform.
    • Under the COMPANY section, the roles linked to the current platform that you can request.
Note: This section might not be available, Contact your administrator or select any of the preferences below to check if you can request a role in another platform.
  • All Platforms. Lets you select another platform from the app's context menu . You can set a different platform for each of your apps.
  • Select Platform At App Launch. Forces the platform selection when you launch an app or drag a dashboard app to a dashboard.

After you install an app, click the arrow to create a desktop shortcut to that installation.
