Pit Optimization Section

The Pit Optimization section of action bar provides commands for defining parameters to create mining scenarios and run them.

This page discusses:

Prepare Optimization Model
Creates a block model that stores the result attributes of pit optimization scenarios.
See Preparing an Optimization Block Model.

New Scenario
See Flyout for New Scenario.

New Commodity
See Flyout for Commodity.

Mining
Defines mining parameters for scenarios that involve multiple commodities.
See Defining Mining Parameters.

New processing
See Flyout for Processing.

Economic Scenario
Specifies the block valuation method, options for commodities and prices, the mining cost value and how the scenario to be processed as per the ore selection method.
See Defining an Economic Scenario.

Pit and Phases
Specifies options for defining the scheduling of the pit and phases. Scheduling pit and phases involve:
  • Selecting a single pit or phases.
  • Defining and applying geometric constraints.
  • Defining how the final pit looks.
  • Specifying the number of phases.
See Controlling Pit and Phases.

Slope Profile
Specifies slope parameters for the pit optimization of a single scenario.
See Defining Slope Profiles.

Run Control
Controls the block resolution when running a pit optimization.
Aggregates blocks to accelerate the run.
Controlling the Run Speed.

Scheduling
Specifies the scheduling parameters.
Scheduling is disabled by default. When scheduling is enabled, it is run after the phases generation.
Enabling Scheduling.

Run Pit Optimization
Previews all parameters and runs the pit optimization and scheduling for the selected scenario.
See Running the Pit Optimization.

Pit Display
Displays the resulting phases and periods of the scenario.
See Displaying the Optimized Pit.

Scenario Output
Copies the result attributes of the selected scenario to a new block model for downstream usage.
See Publishing Scenarios.

Flyout for Scenario

New Scenario
Creates a new pit optimization scenario.
A pit optimization scenario contains all the required parameters to run pit phasesoptimization and scheduling.
See Creating a Scenario.

Duplicate Scenario
Creates a new scenario that is a duplicate of the selected pit optimization case.
See Duplicating a Scenario.

Modify Scenario
Modify the name and terrain reference of the selected scenario.
You cannot change the block model reference of an existing scenario.
See Modifying a Scenario.

Delete Scenario
Deletes the pit optimization scenario.
The parameters of the selected scenario and all associated results are deleted.
See Deleting a Scenario.

Flyout for Commodity

New Commodity
Creates a new commodity.
See Adding a Commodity.

Modify Commodity
Modifies the value of the selected commodity.
To edit the commodity's value, select a new grade attribute in the list.
See Modifying a Commodity.

Delete Commodity
Deletes the selected commodity.
Any processes using the deleted commodity are invalidated.
See Deleting a Commodity.

Flyout for Processing

New Processing
Creates a new processing destination.
Defined processing destinations are used to run pit and phase optimization, scheduling or both.
See Creating a Processing.

Modify Processing
Modifies the selected processing for block models that is based on a rock type's attribute. You can modify the destination path of a material's type or add new destination paths.
See. Modifying a Processing.

Delete Processing
Deletes the selected processing that includes the path the material condition (rock types), processing cost, and the throughput factor.
See Deleting a Processing.
