Workflow

You can simulate the effect of a product assembly on the free-standing performance of an antenna. This workflow enables you to perform electromagnetics simulations and compare antenna placement strategies using Antenna Placement.

  1. In CST Studio Suite, create an antenna project for each of your antennas.

The antenna project must be a fully functional CST Studio Suite simulation of your antenna in a free-standing configuration.

For more information, see CST Studio Suite Antenna Projects.

  2. Under File > Project, click Save 3DEXPERIENCE Model to save the antenna project to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE Antennas.

  3. On the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, open the Antenna Placement app.
  4. Select a product assembly that represents the platform on which to install the antenna.

For more information, see About Platforms.

  5. Select one or more of the antennas that you previously saved.

For more information, see About Antennas.

  6. For each antenna, add one or more placement candidates on the platform.

For more information, see About Placement Candidates.

  7. Optional: Preview the blockage area for each of your placement candidates before running a full electromagnetics simulation.

For more information, see About Obscuration Plots.

  8. Create a coverage test for each installed antenna simulation.

For more information, see About Coverage Tests.

  9. Optional: Request output for your results analysis.

For more information, see About Output Requests.

  10. Optional: Configure the settings in the master simulation project.

For more information, see About the Master Simulation Project.

  11. Run electromagnetics simulations for the placement candidates you specify.

For more information, see About Simulations.

  12. Review and compare the simulation results for each coverage test.

For more information, see About Results.
