Searching for Content

You can search for content within a folder or through all your drives, and refine the results using 6WTags.

  1. In the Search field, enter your search string.

    You can search either for a folder or a file.

    Tip: You can use a file or folder title and description.

  2. Click the search field and select either of the following:
    • to find content through all your drives, select Search. For more information, see About 3DSearch Queries.
    • to find content within a folder, select it in the tree, then in the Search field select the Search In Current Dashboard filter.
  3. Click or press Enter.

    You can use 6WTags to refine your search results. 3DDrive provides automatically extracted tags to all created content, that is WHO: Responsible (owner of the data); WHEN: creation and modification dates; WHAT: Type (file extensions); WHERE: Data source. If you maximize the app, you can define your own user-defined tags on any content, and you can remove them at any time. For more information, see Filtering with 6WTags and Maximize Widgets.

The search results are displayed.

  • If you have selected Search In Current Dashboard and if a file extension is compatible with an app in the Compass, the Open With command lets you ope it with the compatible app. You can use the context menu of a folder or a file or the toolbar commands on the displayed content. For more information, see Context Menus and App Toolbar.
  • If you have selected Search, the context menu commands below are available:
    • Download. Downloads the selected content.
    • View in 3DDrive Displays a preview of the selected content in 3DDrive.
