About Assets

Marketing assets are the primary content you manage and interact with in xMedia.

Marketings assets, shortened as assets, are user-defined data. They are the core objects that articulate your management work in xMedia.

xMedia supports two types of content: Documents and Published Media Experiences.

Each of these two types encompasses specific types of assets (with various file types or extensions). The following table describes the types of assets associated with each type of content:

Type of Content Type of Assets
Documents Images: .png files, .jpg files (etc.)
Videos: .mp4 files (etc.)
Document: .pdf files
Published Media Experience 3DModel: Published media experiences (typically from the xStudio app)

The Thumbnails layout and the Tiles layout of the work area provide you with dedicated thumbnails that reflect your assets. The thumbnails also comprise a small icon (type indication) that illustrates the type of each asset.

Assets are fully life cycled objects whose maturity and development you can track and modify. For more information, see Managing the Lifecycle of Assets.

You can add various semantic and taxonomic pieces of information to your assets. Use 6WTags and classification attributes as identifiers to filter and classify your assets according to all your specific business requirements. For more information, see Filtering Assets and Managing the Classification Attributes of Assets.
