Managing the Classification Attributes of Assets

You can assign classification attributes to your assets and modify these attributes.

Use the taxonomic classes and classification attributes created in the IP Classification and IP Classification Editor apps to classify and organize your assets extensively.

Assign Classification Attributes to Assets

You can assign classification attributes created using the IP Classification app to your assets in xMedia.

  1. Create libraries using the IP Classification Editor app.

  2. Create classes using the IP Classification Editor app.

  3. Create groups of attributes and classification attributes using the IP Classification app.

    For more information, see Social and Collaborative | Multidiscipline Configured Product Development | IP Classification | Working with Attribute Groups and Attributes.

  4. Add these classification attributes to the created classes of your choice using the IP Classification Editor app.

  5. Create a dashboard.
  6. Open the IP Classify and Reuse and xMedia apps in the created dashboard, and place these apps jointly.
  7. From the IP Classify and Reuse app, select a library in the list, and then select a class from this library.
  8. From xMedia, drag one or more assets to which you want to assign the classifications attributes of the selected class, into the work area of the IP Classify and Reuse app.

    Important: To drag one or more assets into the work area of the IP Classify and Reuse app, select the Thumbnails layout or the Tiles layout .

  9. From a collaborative space or a collection, open the Information panel of the asset to which you assigned the classification attributes.

  10. Under the MEDIA section, select the Classification subsection.

  • You assign classification attributes to the selected asset. These attributes follow the class hierarchy defined in the IP Classification app.
  • The selected asset or assets are automatically synchronized with and added to the corresponding class of the IP Classify and Reuse app.

Edit the Classification Attributes of a Single Asset

You can modify the parameters of the classification attributes of an asset.

  1. From a collaborative space or a collection, open the Information panel of an asset of your choice.

    For more information, see Opening the Information Panel of Assets.

  2. Under the MEDIA section, select the Classification subsection.
  3. To modify the parameters of a classification attribute, click (tap) Edit next to the classification attribute of your choice.
  4. Specify new parameters for the classification attribute.

    Classification attributes have various parameters that you can change depending on their types. For example, you can change a name (for the string type), a value (for the integer and Boolean types), or a date (for the date type).

  5. To save the modified parameters, click (tap) Save .
  6. Optional: To restore the default parameters of the classification attribute, click (tap) Discard .
