What's New

This page describes recent changes in xGenerative Design.

This page discusses:

R2022x FD01 (FP.2205)

Creating an Operation using the Keyboard

You can now press Space to add an operation to your design.
This keyboard shortcut is available in the main window and in the Graph Editor.
Benefits: Your can create any content without opening the Graph Editor.
For more information, see Keyboard Shortcuts

Editing an Operation from the Graph Editor

You can now double-click a node in the Graph Editor to edit the related operation in the main window.
Benefits: From the Graph Editor, you can edit any operation in the main window.
For more information, see Basic Interactions

Locking Automatic Updates

You can now disable the automatic update of your design sequence by activating the Manual Update mode .
Benefits: Updating your design sequence manually reduces the time spent on the automatic computation of your operations when you have a large design sequence.
For more information, see Disabling Automatic Updates

Managing Controllers and Monitored Outputs

In the Experiment and Monitor tabs, new commands are available in the menu.
Benefits: Reordering, editing, and removing controllers or monitored outputs is now possible directly in the tabs.
For more information, see Experimenting with Controllers About Monitored Outputs

Working with Design Variants' Viewpoints

When you create or edit a design variant, the viewpoint of the design in the 3D area is now stored in the variant's configuration.
Moreover, the Variant Viewpoint option allows to update the current viewpoint with the viewpoint of a variant.
Benefits: When you navigate your design variants, the viewpoint of the 3D area is automatically updated.
For more information, see Edit Controllers in Design Variants

Publishing Content

If you want to use your content in another context, you need to publish your geometries. An information message is now displayed in the app letting you know when your content is not published.
Benefits: You are better informed about the publication concept.
For more information, see Publishing Content

Identifying Geometries Under Edition in the 3D Area

Whenever you edit an operation or use manipulators, the geometries that are edited are now colored with a specific color.
Benefits: It is easier to identify manipulated geometries.

Interrupting Loading

You can now click Cancel during the loading of your content.
Benefits: Canceling a loading allows you to save time.

User Interface of the Graph Editor

Colors, borders, and other graphical elements are restyled.
Benefits: The aesthetic of the Graph Editor is enhanced.

Position of Nodes in the Graph Editor

When the Graph Editor is open, the node of a new operation created in the main window is now automatically positioned in the center of the Graph Editor's view.
Benefits: It is easier to find a new operation in the Graph Editor.

Downloading Watched Content

The new command Download Content provided in the Watch operator lets you export the content of a structure in a specific format.
  • Lists and tables are exported to a .csv file.
  • Colors are exported to hexadecimal format.
  • Structures with multiple dimensions are exported to a .json file.

Download Content is available in a Watch node in the Graph Editor and in the Monitor tab if you monitor a Watch operation.

Benefits: It is easier to work with watched content once it is downloaded.

Availability of New Operators

Four operators are added to the library.
  • In the List category, Cluster by Density lets you cluster points depending on their distance.
  • In the Geometry category, Extrude To Point lets you create conic shapes based on any profile, and Surface Attractor Force lets you create an attraction based on a surface.
  • In the Maths category, Normal Random lets you use probability laws when you want to generate random numbers.
Benefits: The scope of the app is extended.

Improvement of Existing Operators

Several enhancements are provided.
Benefits: Performances and usability are improved.

R2022x GA

Displaying the Graph Editor

You can now overlay the 3D area with the content of the Graph Editor.
Benefits: Your graph and your 3D design are displayed in the same window.
For more information, see Operators Library

Reordering Controllers

In the Experiment tab, you can now reorder controllers and regions containing controllers.
Benefits: The structure displayed in the tab is now the same as in the Graph Editor and you can organize the list of controllers according to your needs.
For more information, see Experimenting with Controllers

Working with Handles

Handles are now displayed in the 3D area when you select an operation in the tree, in the 3D area, or in the Graph Editor.
Benefits: The productivity is increased.

Sectioning a Product

You can now create a section view of a product using a plane as reference.
Benefits: Section views show the internal structure of a product.
For more information, see Creating a Section View

Working with Advanced Operators

You can now work with the following advanced operators provided that you have a specific licensed role: Wrap on Surface, Unfold, Deform Surface.
Benefits: Advanced operators improve the design of complex geometries.
For more information, see About Advanced Operators

Polyhedral Geometry

You can now apply operators on polyhedral objects, or use polyhedral geometry as inputs.
Benefits: The app is more efficient and robust.
For more information, see Polyhedral Geometry in xGenerative Design

New Operator: 3D Text

You can now use this operator to create a geometry corresponding to a word or a sentence.
Benefits: New designs are possible
For more information, see 3D Text

New Operator: Nesting On Surface

You can now use this operator to optimize the position of several geometries on a surface.
Benefits: The design of esthetic models is facilitated.
For more information, see Nesting On Surface

Specifying a Mouse Control

Three preferences are now available to let you select a mouse profile for manipulating viewpoints in your dashboard app: CATIA, SOLIDWORKS, and 3DEXPERIENCE.
To specify this option:
  1. Select Me > Preferences.
  2. From the Mouse Control area, select the required option. By default, 3DEXPERIENCE is selected.
Benefits: You can gain easier access to viewpoints in your dashboard app by specifying the mouse profile option that best fits your needs.
For more information, see Mouse Controls
