Creating and Updating Datasets

You can add prepared datasets to create 3D objects such as buildings, trees, or urban furniture to enrich your environment. These objects are called GeoItems.

When prepared datasets are created, you can update their content and map spatial and tabular data.

For information about how to add datasets in preview, see Adding Datasets in Preview and 3DEXPERIENCE Objects.

Important:
  • Do not modify default access rules, especially the Allow user read access to any content in any other collaborative space option which must be activated. Otherwise, you might not be able to read documents in your experience. For more information, see Installation and Setup: Administrate: 3DEXPERIENCE Platform: 3DSpace: Collaborative Spaces Control Center: Configuring Content for the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform: Configuring Content Security and Business Processes: Rules that Determine Who Can Read Content: Allow Read Access to In Work Content in Protected or Private Collaborative Spaces.

  • The dataset lifecycle is managed independently from datasources. When you create a prepared dataset, its associated resources are duplicated from the datasource. Therefore, if the datasource is modified after the dataset creation, the prepared dataset is not automatically updated in the experience. To do so, you must explicitly update the dataset using City apps each time a datasource is modified.
  • Attribute values must match the type declared in the type description. Thus, do not change a type from String to Integer or Real for example. Otherwise, the dataset cannot be created. For more information, see Attribute Mapping.
  • When loading huge data, zoom in to view all geometries.
  • You might not be able to create prepared raster datasets (DTM or image) exceeding 10 GB. Any preparation lasting more than 24 hours generates an error.
  • You might not be able to create prepared vector datasets containing more than 10 000 000 geometries.
  • From the Tools section of the action bar, click Save City Experience regularly to make sure that your changes are kept.
