Installation Roadmap

The BIOVIA Study Design and Tracking app works in cooperation with several other BIOVIA applications.

The AM_3DEXP_WebApps.AllOS\1\BSM-StudyManager media provides the Study Design and Tracking media for installation.

The Key Concepts section of this manual describes the fundamental terminology in this manual.

Study Design and Tracking requires that installations of the following BIOVIA applications are available:

Foundation Hub
This is an integrated scientific environment that connects BIOVIA applications. This includes access to Pipeline Pilot for other applications, management of security and administration of resources such as users, units, equipment, organizations, and location information.
Pipeline Pilot Server
This provides environments to design, test, and deploy data processing procedures called protocols. A protocol comprises a set of components that perform operations such as data reading, calculation, merging, and filtering. The connections between components define the sequence for processing data. The logic of the protocol determines how to merge, compare and process data from files, databases, and the web.
For Study Design and Tracking, Pipeline Pilot Server provides reporting facilities and additional configuration of time windows, study identifiers, and vocabularies.
CISPro
This is a software solution for chemical inventory management in a single laboratory, or in multiple worldwide laboratories. This delivers all the required tools to accurately track and report chemicals and supplies while meeting safety and regulatory requirements. Such requirements include barcode labeling, remote inventory control, and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management. CISPro requires some extra View permissions for Study Design and Tracking users. For more information, see Configuring CISPro Permissions.

Recommendation: also install the following:

Compose & Capture
Compose provides a standards-based approach to procedure authoring. It enables the right content to be input into processes from the beginning and carrying out production in similar ways globally. The standards put in place give the production system a common language and a shared way of working. Capture is a dedicated application supporting execution procedures such as recipes and methods in the lab. It has a simple and intuitive user interface, designed for mobility.
Workbook
This is an enterprise Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) that helps scientific disciplines transition from paper and manual processes to an efficient, integrated electronic environment in non-GxP and GxP labs. More than a simple replacement for paper notebooks, the Workbook efficiently manages the flow of information, tasks, and materials among scientists, software, and instruments within and between labs. This improves personal productivity, collaboration, and collective intelligence.
