Aerodynamics of a Drone

This example guides you through creating and performing an external fluid flow simulation on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

You will learn how to:

  • Use the Assistant to create a simulation that models the mechanical forces and dynamics of steady-state fluid flow.
  • Define a fluid region external to your model, using symmetry to reduce simulation time.
  • Assign a material to the fluid section, and specify the physics of the flow.
  • Apply boundary conditions.
  • Create a mesh of the fluid region.
  • Request data output for pertinent variables.
  • Check and run a simulation.
  • Create sensors to display different types of results data.
  • Automatically calculate quantities using formulas (that is, Knowledgeware parameters).
  • Generate plots to view the streamline contours of the fluid flow.

To learn how to simulate internal flow, see Analysis of Airflow through a Duct.
