Procedure for Designing Steel Outfitting

This technique describes how to design steel outfitting.

  1. In the Product Finder app, search a product and open it with the required data.
  2. Create the components and add them to a catalog. See Creating Catalogs and Libraries of the Components.
  3. Create the design space reference to reserve the area for steel outfitting. See Allocating Areas for Steel Outfitting Design.

Note: Use the Part Design Essentials app to define the geometry of the design space reference.

  4. Position the components. See Positioning the Components.
  5. Create the covering and apply a material on it. See Covering a Part.
    Notes:
    • Use the Generative Wireframe and Surface (or Part Design Essentials) app to define the geometry of the covering.
    • You can position the components on a covering.
  6. In the Generative Wireframe and Surface app, define the geometry using Udf and power copy for the functional design of the steel outfitting. See Creating a Steel Outfitting System for Functional usage.
  7. For unique design or catalog preparation, define the detail outfitting product. See Creating the Detail Outfitting Products.
Note: Use the Generative Wireframe and Surface (or Part Design Essentials) app to define the geometry.
  8. Instantiate the detail outfitting product for the detail design of the steel outfitting. See Positioning Detail Outfitting Products on the Profile.
Note: You can place the components on the steel outfitting system.
  9. Create a foundation system using the Structure Design members such as panels and plates. See Creating a Foundation.
Note: You can place the components on the foundation.
  10. In the Drafting app, generate the drawing views of steel outfitting. See Generating Drawings of the Steel Outfitting Design Objects.
  11. In the Quality Rules Reuse app, define the report format, and generate a report. See Managing the Reports.
