Abstractions Section

These tools allow you to define various modeling abstractions including nonstructural masses and acoustic features.

You can add nonstructural masses to a model to account for mass and inertia of components that do not add stiffness to the structure. Once their mass is accounted for, these components can be modeled as rigid bodies or left out of the simulation model entirely.

This page discusses:

Rigid Body
See Flyout for Rigid Bodies.

Point Inertia
See Flyout for Inertias.

Mass per Unit Volume
See Flyout for Masses.

Fluid Cavity
Creates a surface-based fluid cavity.
See Defining Fluid Cavities.

Fluid Exchange
Models flow between a fluid cavity and the environment or another fluid cavity.
See Defining the Fluid Flow In and Out of Fluid Cavities.
Acoustic Domain
Defines the acoustic region of the model for use with Hex Dominated Meshing.
See Defining Acoustic Domains.
Acoustic Volume
Sets the volume within which acoustic properties and mesh elements are applied.
See Defining Acoustic Volumes.
Acoustic Coupling
Creates a tie coupling between the mesh in an acoustic domain and the mesh in the surrounding structural domain.
See Defining Acoustic Couplings.
Acoustic Absorber
Specifies acoustic absorption properties for a surface of your model.
See Defining Acoustic Absorbers.

Cyclic Symmetry
Creates a cyclic symmetry model.
See Defining Cyclic Symmetry.

Voxel Domain
Creates a voxel domain for the voxel mesher.
See Defining Voxel Domains.
