Model Versions Tab

The Model Versions tab lists all the derivations and revisions of the current model version or model.

Note: If you see the Model Version Derivations page instead of the Model Versions tab, see the Defect Management and Collaboration User's Guide.

The default evolution for a model version is a series of revisions. Your Business Administrator can enable Derivation mode so that the evolution for a model version includes both revisions and derivations.

About Model Version Evolutions

Columns

The first model version is the main model version for the model and the evolution tree. When using Derivation mode, subsequent revisions show at the same level as the main model version, while derivations are indented beneath the model version they were derived from.

Column Name Description
Rev The revision of the model version. When using derivation mode, both revisions and derivations have revision levels.
Derivation Cue

Only shows if Derivation mode is enabled.

Shows for derivations. This column is blank for revisions and the root model version.
Latest Cue

Only shows if Derivation mode is enabled.

Shows for the latest revision in each revision chain (each derived model version can have its own revision chain).

Shows for the latest revision on a revision chain if the model version in the Release state. If both of these conditions exist, only this cue shows in the column.

Name The name of the model version. Click to open the model version.
Derivation Type

Only appears if Derivation mode is enabled.

A model version can only have one model version of derivation type revision, and there can be a chain of such revisions. A model version can have many model versions of derivation type Derivation.

Possible Value Description
Derivation This model version was derived from its parent.
Revision This model version was revised from its parent.

Derived From

Only appears if Derivation mode is enabled.

The model version from which this model version was either revised or derived. That is, the parent of this model version.
Derivation Level The root model version in an evolution tree is always the top level for that model version.

For a Hardware Product or Service Product:

  • Main release
  • Fix release

For a Software Product:

  • Release
  • Fix pack
  • Hot fix

You only see this column if derivation mode is enabled.

Marketing Name The marketing name of the model version.
Type The type of model version.
Description The detailed description of the model version.
Governing Project

Only shows if you also have Project Management installed.

The project created in Project Management used to govern the model version.
Current Phase

Only shows if you also have Project Management installed.

The current milestone, phase, or tollgate the project is in, which is the first top-level task that is not in the Complete state.

This column is blank if Project Management is not installed.

Phase Completion

Only shows if you also have Project Management installed.

The estimated completion date of the current phase of the governing project.

This column is blank if Project Management is not installed.

State The current lifecycle state of the model version.
Owner The person responsible for the model version.
