Sequential Thermomechanical Analysis of a Laser Powder Bed Fusion Build

This example guides you through creating and performing thermomechanical simulations on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

You will learn how to:

  • Create a sequential thermomechanical simulation.
  • Select the appropriate initial temperature, heat transfer flux, material input, and physical interactions.
  • Use simulation features, such as restraints, model change (a common practice to remove the build tray and the support structures), groups for mesh entities, and amplitude smoothing.
  • Create and run multiple steps in a simulation.
  • View the results and plot contours for von Mises stress, and plot the distortion caused during a simulation.
