Creating Variant Lines and Variants

You can store and organize variants in the Variant panel. You can create additional Variant panels, and customize them to build your own experience.

  1. To add variant lines, click the menu at the top of the variant panel, and select Add new line, and then the type of variant line to create.

    Note: These commands are also available at the bottom of the variant panel. Use the expander icon to display them.

    To save some space, you can hide the commands at the bottom of the panels using the Show new line creation control preference in Me > Preferences, App Preferences tab, 3D Modeling > Styling > Product Perception Experience. For more information, see Variant.

  2. Rename the variant thumbnail if needed.
  3. Select (or specify) the element you want for your variant: product, position, material, human, simulation, viewpoint, position, or environment. For a stage variant, select several variant thumbnails.
  4. In the Variant panel, at the upper right of the variant area, click the plus sign for each variant you want to create, and repeat steps 3 and 4.

Tip: You can move or copy variants within a variant line, or to another variant of the same type. You can also move or copy variant lines within a variant panel, or to another variant panel.
Note: Use the menus for additional options. For example, you can add or remove parts or products from product, position, and material variants. You can also create and rename a variant line, refresh thumbnails, set triggers, or choose to hide some variant panels, variant lines, and variants in Play mode.
