What's New

This page describes recent changes in Creative Experience.

This page discusses:

R2022x FD01 (FP.2205)

2D UI Actors

You can work with two types of 2D UI actors:
  • First generation of UI actors (before R2022x FD01 (FP.2205)): these actors are still supported but deprecated. This means that you can still use them in your experience but you can no longer create them.
  • Second generation of UI actors (from R2022x FD01 (FP.2205) onward): this type of 2D UI actors is consistent with 3D UI actors. Moreover, there is a dedicated section for each 2D UI actor in the JavaScript guide.
Benefits: This feature improves the consistency between 3D and 2D UI actors, and adds more controls to the JavaScript SDK.
For more information, see 2D UI Actors Migration

Templates

Some limitations no longer apply to shared templates.
From now on, when you create or update a shared template, the references to external objects are kept in the local template.
Benefits: This feature improves the template workflow.
For more information, see Work with a Shared Actor Template

Cameras

There are several camera improvements.
  • A new command, Create Look Around Camera , is available from the action bar.

With this camera, you can explore the experience by looking around the camera's position.

  • The camera navigation modes have been improved.
  • The Show Reticule check box is now cleared by default. This only applies when you instantiate new navigation behaviors (such as Free Navigation, First-Person Navigation, Orbital Navigation, or Look Around Navigation).
  • When a planetary environment is active, the Projection Type, Near Clip, Far Clip, and Enable Automatic Clipping properties are unavailable.
Benefits: This reduces user confusion and improves the perceived quality.
For more information, see About Cameras Parameters Examples of Navigation Modes Cameras Properties

Moving Objects in the Tree Structure

The links between objects now remain connected when you move and reposition some of the objects within the tree structure.
Benefits: This greatly improves the user workflow while reordering the tree structure.
For more information, see Moving Objects in the Tree Structure

Default Visualization Ambience

A new ambience, called default visualization ambience, is available.
This ambiance appears by default in the app when there is no active environment in the experience. It contains preset HDRI lighting, HDRI background, and custom configuration settings.
Benefits: This feature provides a consistent default visualization across the 3DEXCITE apps.
For more information, see About Environments

Ambience Properties

The Finite Dome property is now available with HDRI ambiences only.
You can apply a finite or infinite dome to an ambience. Depending on the status of the Finite Dome property, you can also edit in your experience the values of some ambience properties (such as Dome Radius or Dome Origin).
Benefits: This feature improves rendering and experience possibilities.
For more information, see Ambience Properties

Exploring Relationships of an Experience

You can now display the relationships between an experience and Web experiences (Published Media Experiences).
Benefits: This feature improves the user experience.
For more information, see Exploring Relationships of an Experience

R2022x GA

Assets and Materials

You can now repair links between assets and materials.
Benefits: This facilitates the management of materials, for example, if you change the material type to the 3DS PBR material type.
For more information, see Broken Material Links Management Manage Broken Material Links

Templates

You can now edit an actor template in an experience.
You can no longer create actor templates that use other actor templates.
Benefits: This improves the user experience and workflow to edit and update an actor template.
For more information, see Creating Templates Nested Templates Editing Actors Templates

Rendering a Batch

Render Batch is now available with the Marketing Experience Creator role (XEC).
Benefits: This enables you to leverage the Render Batch automation capabilities directly with the Marketing Experience Creator role (XEC).
For more information, see Rendering a Batch

Viewing Build Errors

Build errors can occur when you start playing an experience. You can view these errors in the Build Failed dialog box.
Benefits: This feature helps identify errors when an experience cannot play correctly.
For more information, see About Build Errors Viewing Build Errors

Humans — Exposing Products

You can now expose products that are included in a human actor.
Benefits: You can add behaviors to the exposed products to manipulate them in your experience. You can also modify the properties of exposed subproduct actors (for example, changing the visibility).
For more information, see About Humans

Humans — Duplicating

You can now duplicate a human actor from the context toolbar or from the context menu of the Project panel.
You can also insert multiple times a same human reference from the Search results.
Benefits: This enables you to manage human actors in your experience.

Humans — Creating Templates

You can now create an actor template from a human actor.
Benefits: This provides more control and flexibility when working with humans.

Humans — Reverting to the Initial Posture of an Asset

If you change the human actor's posture, you can revert to the initial asset's posture from the context menu of the Project panel or from the Properties panel.
Benefits: This improves usability when working with humans.
For more information, see Revert to the Posture of an Asset

Humans — Inserting a Human Actor with a Product Connection

In the app, you can now use a human actor that is connected with a product. If you modify the human posture, the connected product moves accordingly.
You can also set postures or behaviors to different instances of the same human reference.
Benefits: This improves usability when working with humans.
For more information, see Humans and Product Connections

Mouse Controls Profile

You can now change the mouse profile when manipulating Web experiences in 3DPlay Web App.
Benefits: You can specify the mouse profile that best fits your needs for all dashboard apps at once.
