What's New

This page describes recent changes in Electrical Systems Design.

This page discusses:

R2022x FD01 (FP.2205)

Generating Wiring Data from Net Data

You can generate wiring data according to a net definition and the equivalent routing of the nets in the 3D mockup.
It creates cables, wires, and intermediate connectors that implement each net group.
Benefits: It allows you to display wiring data in a diagram view, in one click, based on an existing net diagram.
For more information, see Generating Wiring Data from Net Data

Defining Physical Connector

Now, you can define a physical connector to retrieve the logical connectors for a terminal block or a production break.
Benefits: The signal continuity between equipments is maintained, when going through harnesses.
For more information, see Selecting a Physical Connector

Managing Cavities Reservation

You can connect wires from to cavities under the same harness.Cavities or shunts can be reserved before allocating all the wires to their respective cavities.
Benefits: The reservation of cavities allows you to avoid simultaneous access to the same cavities and preserve the model
For more information, see Managing Cavities Reservation

Managing Cavity Allocation

You can connect wires from to cavities under the same harness.
Benefits: You can re-connect the wires of the wire definition to connectors with a real part number and a physical counterpart.
For more information, see Managing Cavity Allocation

Defining Cable Part Number

You can assign a part number to a cable.
You are now able to select the part number of cables inside a harness through catalogs and libraries of references according to the number of wires, gauge, cable code.
Benefits: It enables you to set a physical counterpart for a logical cable.
For more information, see Defining Cable Part Number

Defining Contact Part Numbers

You can select the part numbers of contacts from catalogs or libraries.
You can select the part number of every contact from catalogs or libraries of references according to the series number and the gender of the connector, the contact type, the contact size that is supported by the cavity, and the range size.
Benefits: It ensure that all the wires connected to a cavity can be connected to the contact, in order to ensure the signal continuity between equipments, when going through harnesses.
For more information, see Defining Contact Part Numbers

Generating Automatically Wire Diagram Views

You can generate a wiring diagram view.
From one or several existing net diagrams, the same number of wiring diagram is created.
Benefits: You can generate a wiring diagram view in one click, based on an existing wiring system.
For more information, see Generating Wiring Diagram Views From Net Diagram View

Generating Automatically Net Diagram Views

You can generate a net diagram view.
From one or several existing net diagrams, the same number of net diagram views is created.
Benefits: You can generate a net diagram view in one click, based on an existing net system.
For more information, see Generating Automatically Net Diagram Views

Electrical Calculation: Editing Gauge and Cross Section Attributes

You can edit the gauge and cross section attributes.
Now the gauge is displayed in the Electrical Calculation panel. The command supports more electrical components.

Benefits: The current and voltage drop are automatically recomputed when you edit the gauge or cross section attributes.
For more information, see Computing the Total Load on a Fuse

Cable End Representation

The cable end symbol moves when moving the pin and the connector.

Benefits: You no longer need to move the cable end symbol after moving a pin or a connector.
For more information, see About Cable Route Representation

R2022x GA

Creating Templates for Layout/Sheet/View Structures

You can create a template for layout/sheet/view structures, using the Engineering Templates app.
Benefits: By using exposed ports, you can connect a component to a component in another system, without opening or modifying the system.
For more information, see Managing Exposed Ports

Exposed Ports R2022x GA

You can create and remove exposed ports. You can also merge routables using exposed ports.
Benefits: By using exposed ports, you can connect a component to a component in another system, without opening or modifying the system.
For more information, see Managing Exposed Ports
