Opening a Part

You can view the categories of information listed below for parts.

Required Access Roles:

  • App-specific: Any (with some exceptions).
  • Baseline: Any (with some exceptions).

Most users can view the categories of information for parts listed below. These are the exceptions:

  • Users who are outside the company (even within the same host company).
  • Users assigned either the Owner role or Public Reader role who are outside the organization in which the part belongs.
  • Users assigned the Contributor role who are outside the organization in which the part belongs while the part is in the Released state.
  • For parts that belong only to a private project, users who are not members of the private project.

Click the name of the part in the list.

Click to list the categories. Click to view the part structure. If you have only the Platform Contributor or Review and Approve license role, you see only Materials in the part structure list.

Note: You have the Platform Contributor license if you see Collaborative Business Innovator and Collaborative Industry Innovator in the list of My Roles when you open the Compass. The Review and Approve option cannot be selected as a role and does not show in any lists.

Depending on the type of part and the apps in use, you could see a subset of this list.

Related Items Shows items related to the part such as specifications, reference documents, and markups. Related Items
Where Used Shows in which assembly the part is used. Finding Where a Part is Used
3DPlay If the part is associated with a 3D product, this tab displays a 3D representation of the part. Viewing EBOM Structures in 3D

Materials compliance details about the part structure, materials, and substances.

If you have the Materials Compliance Reporting license, you can view the materials for the part, but not the substance composition.

MBOM Plant Specifications The list of parts to be included when manufacturing an assembly.
MBOM Revisions If Manufacturing BOM Management is installed, shows part revisions related to the manufacturing process.
Where Used View parent assemblies in which a part is used.
Markups View all BOM and item markups related to the part
Equivalents Manufacturer Equivalents Shows information about a part’s list Manufacturer Equivalent Parts (MEPs). Equivalent Parts for a Specific Part
Locations - This category displays if the part is a manufacturer equivalent part. The manufacturing site that uses or will use the manufacturer equivalent part. MEP Locations
Change Management Change Order Shows change orders related to the context part
Change Request Shows change requests related to the context part.
Change Action Shows change actions related to the context part.
Change Legacy If you have upgraded from an earlier release, this field shows all existing ECRs/ECOs
Part Specs & Documents Specifications Shows all specifications connected to the part About Specifications
Reference Documents Shows documents connected to the part with the Reference Document relationship. Reference Documents
Associated Test Methods Shows a list of test methods associated with the part. See the Engineering BOM and Product Specification Management User's Guide.
Related Parts Alternate Parts Shows information about a part’s list of alternate parts Related Parts
Substitute Parts Shows information about a part’s list of substitute parts Related Parts
Spare Parts Shows information about a part’s list of spare parts Spare Parts
Make From Raw Materials Shows information about a part's list of raw materials, typically from a supplier company or vendor Raw Materials Parts for One Part

Configuration Context -- Lists models that have structures that you can use to build effectivity expressions.
