Logical View Tab on the Logical Structures Page

The Logical Structures page includes the Logical View for a model version or logical feature.

Any Variant Management user with access to a model version can view the Logical View page tab for that model version. All Variant Management users can view the Logical View page tab for a logical feature.

To access the logical features for a model version or another logical feature:

  1. Open the model version or logical feature. See Opening a Model Version or Opening a Logical Feature.
  2. In the navigation pane, click Logical Structures.
  3. View the Logical View page tab.

Columns

Column Name Description
Display Name The name of the logical feature or model version.
Name The name of the item. Click to open the item, or right-click to access additional actions, such as adding it to a collection or finding related files.
Type The object type. For example, model version or logical feature.
State The current lifecycle state of the logical feature or model version.
Part Family The part family that this part belongs to. Click to open the part family.
Design Variants Indicates whether design variants exist. Click No to add an existing design variant or Yes to work with existing design variants already associated with the logical feature. For more information, see Design Variants List for a Logical Feature.

Standard/Optional

Design usage:

  • Standard
  • Optional

Shows only in the list of logical features for a model version.

F/N The find number on the object. Used for BOM generation.
Qty The quantity of the object. Used for BOM generation.
Usage The usage of the object. Used for BOM generation.
Ref Des The reference designator of the object. Used for BOM generation.
Owner The owner of the object.
Master Composition The model associated with the object. This column shows values for model versions that are added as sub-features.
Variant/Option

The uncoupled variant and option effectivity expression defined for the logical feature.

You can edit the effectivity until the parent logical feature reaches the Released state. See Building or Editing an Effectivity Expression.

Note: This column can only have a value when effectivity has been uncoupled.
Effectivity

The coupled effectivity expression defined for the logical feature.

Note: This column can only have a value when effectivity has not been uncoupled.

Create Logical Feature Creates a new logical feature and associates it with the context object.

If the selected logical feature is a leaf node, you cannot add logical features.

Add Existing Allows you to search for and add an existing logical feature to the context object.

If the selected logical feature is a leaf node, you cannot add logical features.

About Searches
Copy > Copy From

Only shows in the list of logical features for a model version.

Searches for a model version or logical feature, and copies the logical features for that item.

You cannot copy logical features defined as leaf nodes.

Copying a Logical Feature from Another Object
Copy > Copy To

Only shows in the list of logical features for a model version.

Allows you to search for a model version or logical features, and copies the selected logical features to that item. Copying a Logical Feature to Another Object
Replace > Replace

Only shows in the list of logical features for a model version.

Allows you to search for a model version or logical features and uses it to replace the currently-selected model version or logical feature. Replacing GBOM Items
Replace > Replace & Merge

Only shows in the list of logical features for a model version.

Allows you to search for logical features to merge with and replace the currently-selected item.

You cannot copy logical features defined as leaf nodes.

Replace > Replace & Split

Only shows in the list of logical features for a model version.

Allows you to search for logical features to split with and replace the currently-selected item. Copying by Replace and Split
Remove Removes the selected model version or logical feature. Click OK to confirm.

You cannot remove the item if its parent is in a frozen state or if it is used in a compatibility rule.

If the model version or logical feature is used in a pre-release product configuration, the BOM is updated; for a released product configuration, you cannot remove the model version or logical feature.

Delete Deletes the selected model version or logical feature. Click OK to confirm. Any product configuration associated with the model version or logical feature is also deleted.

You cannot delete the logical feature if its parent is in a frozen state or if it is used in a compatibility rule.

If the logical feature is used in a pre-release product configuration, the EBOM is updated. If the logical feature is used in a released product configuration, you cannot delete it.

Reports > GBOM Report

Shows only in the list of logical features for a model version.

Displays the GBOM Summary, which is the simple hierarchy of the object structure, to illustrate the transition from model version to logical feature to GBOM.
