Context Toolbars

Context toolbars are smart toolbars that contain only those commands that can be applied to the current selection.

This page discusses:

Managing Route

Disconnect All
Disconnects all the connections of a component.
Select the symbol to be disconnected and click Disconnect All.
See Connecting/Disconnecting Functional/Logical Symbols.

Link OffSheet and Merge Routables
Merges two routables whose one of its extremities end as a sheet connector.
If the second sheet connector is placed in another view, click the sheet containing the second diagram view and select the sheet connector in the window.
See Merging and Breaking Routes with Sheet Connectors.

Link Offsheet and Merge Routables
Merges two routables whose one of its extremities ends as a sheet connector using the Check Offsheets dialog box.
Click the sheet connector. In the Check Offsheets dialog box, select a routable and click Merge Sheet Connector.
See Merging and Breaking Routes with Sheet Connectors.

Unlink OffSheet and Break Routables
Breaks a routable in two independent routables and disconnect the paired sheet connectors.
Click the sheet connector. The route connected to the selected sheet connector is updated to refer to the newly created routable. The previous routable is kept for the other sheet connector.
See Merging and Breaking Routes with Sheet Connectors.

Managing Net Group End

Manage Net Group Extremities
Places a net end in a diagram view.
Beforehand, assign a representation for net groups ends to the Default NetGroup Extremity Representation resource in Data Setup > Electrical Logical Resources. Select the desired nets, and then click the command. Place your representation at the convenient place, and then click.
See Managing Net Groups Ends Representations.

Display a NetGroup Extremity
Places the same representation several times.
This is a duplicate of the representation placed previously in the diagram view. Both representations correspond to the same object in the tree.
See Managing Net Groups Ends Representations.

Delete NetGroup Extremity
Deletes a net group end from the diagram view and the tree.
Select the representation to be deleted.
See Managing Net Groups Ends Representations.

Display Linked Objects
Highlights the ports linked with the net group end.
Select the desired net and click the command.
See Managing Net Groups Ends Representations.

Managing Cable Content

Remove Cable Content from View
Removes a cable and its content without deleting the connections.
The following elements are removed from the diagram view: wires, cable ends representations, over shield representation, shield connection between the harness connector and the over shield.
See Removing Cable Content from Diagram View.

Delete Cable Content
Deletes a cable, its wires and the shield connections.
Click one of the following elements in the diagram view:
  • A wire
  • A cable end representation
  • An over shield representation
  • A shield connection
See Deleting Cable Content.

Insert on Route
Inserts disconnect to split existing wires.
Place the disconnect representation over the wires, and then click Insert on Route.
See Inserting Disconnects.

Managing Net/Net Groups

Add Net Connections
Adds a net or net group branch.
Click at the convenient locations to place the two ends of the new branch.
See Creating and Managing Net or Net Group Branches.

Route in View Net Connections
Places a net or net group branch in a diagram view.
Click at the convenient locations to place the two ends of the branch.
See Creating and Managing Net or Net Group Branches.

Delete Net Connections
Deletes a net branch from the diagram view and the tree.
Select the representation to be deleted.
See Creating and Managing Net or Net Group Branches.

Remove Net Connections
Removes a net or net group branch from a diagram view.
See Creating and Managing Net or Net Group Branches.

Replace Net By Wire
Replaces a net by a wire when a link exists between the two electrical routes.
Beforehand, a link must be created between a net and a wire and the wire must be routed.
See Replacing Nets by Wires.

Managing Off-Sheet and On-Sheet Connectors

Manage On/Off Sheet Symbols
Links two sheet connectors together.
Sheet connectors always work by pairs. In net diagrams, you can link two sheet connectors together. In that case, the sheet connectors are defined as a pair which allows text templates and sheet connectors representations to be updated.
See Managing Cross-References for Nets.

Replace On/Off Sheet symbol
Replaces sheet connectors representations in the diagram view.

When several representations are defined in Data Setup , you can replace the sheet connector representation in the diagram view.

See Replacing Sheet Connectors Representations.

Switch On Off Sheet
Switches diagram view to display the second element of the sheet connector pair.
When you have an off-sheet connector paired with another one, and placed in a different diagram view, you can switch to this view to display the off-sheet connector.
See Locating Linked Sheet Connector.

Managing Shielding Connection

Route Shielding Connection
Creates a shield connection.
Select the pin to be connected, and then the end of the over shield symbol to be connected.
See Routing a Shield Connection with an Over Shield Symbol.

Place Shielding Connection
Places in view an existing shield connection.
If the connection already exists between the over shield and the pin, but does not appear in the diagram view, click the over shield symbol, and then select Place Shielded Connection to display it.
See Routing a Shield Connection with an Over Shield Symbol.

Managing Electrical Components

Smart Positioning
Places and connects two parts of a disconnect or a harness connector in a diagram view.
Beforehand, assign a representation for harness connectors or disconnects to the Default Electrical Components Representation resource in Data Setup > Electrical Logical Resources.
See Placing and Connecting Harness Connectors Representations.
Edit Plug Properties
Edits the properties of the plug port.
See Editing Plug or Receptacle Properties.
Edit Receptacle Properties
Edits the properties of the receptacle port.
See Editing Plug or Receptacle Properties.

Display Connector Port and Pins
Displays the pins on a harness connector or a disconnect symbol.
In Manage Connector and Pins Display, double-click the pins to be displayed, define the distance between two pins (Step) and the distance between the top of the connector and the first pin (Offset).
See Displaying Pins on a Connector.

Remove from View
Removes object from the diagram view.
See Removing Cable Content from Diagram View.
Switch to Other Representation
Switches from view to another to display the different symbol representations of the same instance.
If other symbol representations are placed in two different views, select a diagram view in the List of Sheets dialog box.
See Locating Representations for the Same Component.

Connection Point Edition Tools

Fix/Unfix Connection Point
Fixes the position of a connection points.
An anchor appears besides the selected connection point. The connection point is fixed and cannot be moved unless you select Fix/UnFix Connection Point again.
See Editing/Mapping Connection Point and Port.

Change Orientation
Changes the orientation of a connection point.
Click one of the four arrows to define a new direction for the selected connection point.
See Editing/Mapping Connection Point and Port.

Display Port in View
Displays and maps an existing connection point in a diagram view.
Click one of the four arrows to define the direction of the connection point and double-click a port in the Ports dialog box.
