Live Rendering

The Live Rendering section contains commands that let you manage materials, ambiences, lights, decals, and render options.

Click to modify the display, tone mapper and render mode.

Save Image

Setup Background Render
Activates the image production using a background rendering process (Ctrl+Alt+T).
Define the parameters to start the background rendering process.

Surface Unwrap
Creates a UV parameterization feature.

Flyout for Iray

Iray (Ctrl+Alt+R)
Starts or stops an Iray live render.
Click to activate the ray tracing that helps you produce high-quality images.

Stellar
Activates or deactivates ray tracing for the current view.
Ray tracing is stopped for non-active views.
See Rendering Objects.
Distributed Iray
Starts or stops a distributed Iray live render (Ctrl+Alt+R).
Distributed ray tracing helps you produce high-quality images using a cluster of computers or a VCA.

Start by activating "Enable distributed rendering" in the Preferences, and then define the appropriate options.

You also need to install satellites.

Distributed Stellar
Activates or deactivates distributed ray tracing for the current view.
This helps you produce high quality images using a cluster of computers.

To run the Distributed Stellar render mode, the DIR license is required and the cluster configuration must be defined in the Preferences.

Flyout for Manage Lights

Manage Lights
Lets you create and edit rendering light sources.
In the Light Sources panel, create your light ssources, and then define the appropriate color, shape, and position parameters.

Create Physical Spot Light
Creates a more realistic conical light.

Create Physical Point Light
Creates a light situated at a given point.
This light source emits light isotropically with a more realistic aspect.

Creates a conical light with a more realistic aspect.

Flyout for Manage Ambience

Manage Ambience
Selects and manages an ambience for your scene (Ctrl+Alt+A).
Define a filter type and then select an image to load.

Insert Ambience as Reference
Creates a reference node for an ambience.

Creates a node for a copied ambience.

Import Materials Catalog
Lets you import the material libraries provided in your database.
Select the appropriate library from the dialog box, and then click Import Catalog.

Lets you import an ambience.
Select the ambience to be imported then click Import.

Apply Material
Lets you apply materials using the Material Browser.

Material Palette
Lets you browse for materials, research, and compare them, and apply them to components of your model

Picks a material and applies it onto other supports.
Pick to select the material and apply it onto another object.

Remove Material
Removes an applied material from a component.
Click to remove the material.

Creates a core or covering material and apply it.
Click the icon, select the type of material to be created, and then choose a material from the list.

Duplicate Material
Creates a new material in session from an existing one.
Select the material to duplicate.

Create Material from Substance
Creates covering materials from a substance archive.

Create Material from Axf File
Creates a core or covering material from an AxF file.

Flyout for Create and Apply Decal

Create and Apply Decal
Lets you create a new decal then apply it.

Apply Decal
Applies decals already available in your session.

Remove Decal
Deletes decals.
Select the decal to be removed, and then click Remove Decal from the action bar.

Manage Camera

Flyout for Saving Images

Save Image
Saves current rendered image in the database (Ctrl+Alt+S).
Choose the name and the format of the image.

Export Image
Exports the current rendered image on the disk (Ctrl+Alt+D).
Choose the name, file, and path format.

Export Image to 3DSwym
Exports the current rendered image on 3DSwym.
Choose the name, file, and path format.

Flyout for Rendering Using a Background Render

Setup Background Render
Activates the image production using a background rendering process (Ctrl+Alt+T).
Define the parameters to start the background rendering process.

Submit Background Render
Puts the job in the rendering queue (Ctrl+Alt+B).
Start the background rendering process using the background render parameters.

Monitor Background Renders
Displays the render queue to monitor the background renders (Ctrl+Alt+Q).
Check the progress of a job in the queue and monitor it.

Shortcuts Overview
Click to display the list of shortcuts.
Displays all shortcuts available to access Live Rendering commands (Ctrl+Alt+H).
Info
Click to display hardware and software information.
Displays hardware and software information, the estimated performance score and all new features.
Cluster Help
Click to display the check list.
Displays the check list for starting a render with a remote server.
HUD
Click to display or hide the HUD information.
HUD is a small immersive window that display helpful information while rendering (Ctrl+Alt+I).
Iray Rendering Log
Opens Iray raytracing log windows (Ctrl+Alt+L).
Iray ray tracing log windows provides additional information about rendering process, warnings or errors.
Stellar Rendering Log
Opens the Stellar ray tracing log window.
Stellar ray tracing log window provides additional information about rendering process, including rendering progress, warnings or errors.
