What's New

This section describes recent changes in Heavy Industry Structure Fabrication.

This page discusses:

R2022x GA

Support of Shrinkage for Multi-Editing
This enhances the Edit Features command to support editing multiple shrinkage parts at once. And the rule for the default dialog is based on selected parts that are introduced.

For more information, see Using Edit Features for Multiple Shrinkage Parts.

Benefits: You are able to select the multiple features and edit the ratio value for the selected parts.
Support of Axis Origin of Shrinkage at Manufacturing Assembly
This enhances the Edit Features command to support editing multiple shrinkage parts at once. And the rule for the default dialog is based on selected parts that are introduced.

For more information, see Using Multiple Shrinkage Parts for an Assembled Panel.

Customization of the Shrinkage Compensation Direction

For multiple shrinkage parts, establish the common Axis Origin point. And the features of shrinkage parts update with the common Axis Origin basis.

But to update the manufacturing features for more details, this requires customization of the shrinkage compensation direction. This provides a way for you to adjust U-direction and the plane for shrinkage compensation.

For more information, see Using Multiple Shrinkage Parts for an Assembled Panel.

Remove Unnecessary Information from Profile Fab Sketch
Section information and unnecessary information do not get reflected in the profile fab sketch.

For more information, see Generating Workshop Documents.

Support Plate XML Extraction Inside of a Batch
Create a batch utility application to generate Plate XML in a batch mode without launching 3DExperience, and it saves to the database.

For more information, see Supporting Plate XML Extraction inside of Batch.

Plate and Profile Tangent Line and Roll Line Radius Values
Use this to give parameters that consider in the Inner side, so the Radius is always the Inner Radius.

For more information, see About Plate and Profile Tangent Line and Roll Line Radius Values.

Forcing Update to Retrigger Weld Rule in Synchronization Manager
You can display a detailed modification status of the structure plate, and force trigger the weld rule or opening rule during synchronization.

For more information, see Forcing Update to Retrigger Weld Rule in Synchronization Manager.

Layer Information to Plate and Profile in Resulting XML
The generated plate/profile XML does not have layer information of the annotation text. Through this function, the layer information of annotation text is exported in the plate/profile XML. Now the layer information of the annotation texts is exported in the Layer node added under the Font node of the Text.

For more information, see Layer Information to Plate and Profile in Resulting XML.

Providing Twisted Profile Angle Information in Workshop Documents
You can use this to provide the capability to determine twist angle and export this information in Workshop documents.

For more information, see About Twisted Profile Angle content in Workshop Documents.

Profile Sketch View Enhancements
Profiles Sketch drawings result from a profile sketch template. The profile drawing can generate with maximum scale values. This benefits you in the ease of readability and fewer breaks for the profiles sketch views. Activating this variable, generate Profile drawing with a maximum scale. This behavior can be controlled by activating a dedicated option in the Customizing preferences for the Heavy Industry Fabrication App: Workshop documents Tab page.

For more information, see Customizing Preferences.

Support Drilled, Tabbed Opening on formed elements
You are now able to see Drilled, Bridged, and Tabbed opening types in the Opening Combo list in the Manufactured Part dialog box.

For more information, see About Bridged, Drilled, Tabbed Openings on Formed Elements.

Section Size Attribute Integration
Structure Profile Section information is required in the profile xml for downstream manufacturing processes.

In Structure_Stiffener, Structure_StiffenerOnFreeEdge, Structure_Member, the below attributes are introduced instead of a V_StrSection attribute:

  • V_StrSection_Standard - Manage information on Section Standard
  • V_StrSection_Shape - Manage information on Section Shape
  • V_StrSection_Size - Manage information on Section Size

The Section Size for these updated structure profile objects is required in the profile XML for downstream processes.

The updated Structure Profiles (Structure_Stiffener, Structure_StiffenerOnFreeEdge) having V_StrSection_Size attribute needs to be available in the profile XML for downstream manufacturing processes.

For more information, see Section Size Attributes in Generating Workshop Documents.

Propagation of Profile Shrinkage by the Shrinkage of the Plate
After the implementation of structural fabrication, because production needs, the shrinkage rate of the plate needs to be modified. The profile attached to the plate does not shrink with the shrinkage of the plate. In fact, the assembly sequence of profiles affects the actual profile length because the shrinkage of plates. Therefore, there is corresponding shrinkage on the profile. The plate and attached profile shrink concurrently. Otherwise, it causes unnecessary waste and repetitive work in subsequent production.

For more information, see Adjusting length of profile based on shrinkage value.

Benefits: This helps to achieve adjusting of length of profile based on shrinkage value.

Drawing Types Integration

In Workshop Document Extraction, new PLM types of drawings are created corresponding to the type of drawing for the selected process.

A batch tool to migrate old generic drawings to new PLM types of drawings is available.

For more information, see About Drawing Types Integration.

Profile Sketch Endcut icon, parameter table and, Opening Representations
The information in the drawing (views and annotations) does not have clear information about the EndCut and Opening representation. Through this, the Profile drawing has the required EndCut and Opening icon and parameter information.

The highlight Profile drawings have:

  • EndCut icon and EndCut parameter table
  • Opening icons in the table.
  • Title window with required properties.

For more information, see About Profile Sketch EndCut and Opening Representation.

Loading Resulting Products on Demand
Control the automatic loading of the resulting product while loading MBOM in session related to an MLF through the preferences. It helps to optimize the data loading time and later you can load the on demand based on the requirement. In Me > Preferences, Heavy Industry Structure Fabrication, Structure Features → Resulting Products, select Automatically load Resulting Products when loading your resulting products.

For more information, see About EndCut Extralength.

EndCut Extralength
Manufacturing EndCut features in this app generate during the Update In-Process Models command. Created EndCut features in this step have Adjustable as its Location Type.

This type is changeable through the EndCut tab in Edit Features. These options are provided, Marked, Fixed, and Adjustable.

For more information, see About EndCut Extralength.

Supporting a Closed Circular Section Beam
In the current functional scope of this app, it does not cover a beam, which has closed section. Now you are able to have manufacturing features that indicate section and cutting length. As a consequence, Profile Fab Sketch, and Profile Content XML, is available to help fabricate such parts.

For more information, see About Supporting a Closed Circular Section Beam.

Capability of Combining Multiple Edges into a Single Edge
In the case of a multipatch surface, there is more than one edge on one boundary and a margin is generated as a number of selected edges. This now provides in the multicreation dialog box to combine selected edges. The option improves usability that you can create only one margin on continuous edges.

For more information, see About Multi-Creation Edge Functionality for Margin Feature.

Extending of Opening Extremity to Outer Contour as a Straight Line
This provides a margin feature for fabrication. When there is a cutting hole on an edge to which margin is applied, the margin must be extended in a straight direction to fit your business process. In the Added Material tab, create a margin by selecting an edge. And the margin can be edited as an oblique margin then extending, the opening extremity generates in the normal direction to the outer contour.

For more information, see About Extending Opening Extremity to Outer Contour as Straight Line.

Show Thick and Molded Traces of Pilot Part in Attachment Line

Activation of this variable, Attachment lines created on both sides of the Marking body (Pilot Plate / Profile) part. Previously there was no possibility to generate both moulded and thick representations.

For more information, see About Attachment Line Showing Thick and Molded Traces of Pilot Part.
