About Immersive Branch Definition

Immersive Branch Definition allows you to design a branch route by providing easy-to-use functionalities.

This page discusses:

Activation

Immersive Branch Definition is available in the Branch section of the action bar.

  • Activating an electrical branch geometry before clicking Immersive Branch Definition enables you to create a branch.
  • Selecting a branch in the work area before clicking Immersive Branch Definition enables you to edit the selected branch.

In both scenarios, the Auto Routing Mode is activated and the Branch Properties panel appears. For more information about the panel, see About Branch and Segment Properties.

Then, you are able to route the branch by selecting route elements in the work area.

Route Elements

A branch route consists of route elements that you can easily manipulate. The following objects are eligible route elements:

  • Devices
  • Supports
  • Points

When a branch is being edited, various icons appears on route elements which belongs to the branch route:

IconsDescription

Indicates a route element.

Indicates that the route element is a passing point with offset.

Indicates that the sections before and after the route element are orthogonal.

Only displayed if the Orthogonalization Assistant is selected.

Indicates that a profile is set on the route element.
Indicates that:
  • A profile is set on the route element.
  • No reference axis is defined for the local profile.

Indicates that a profile is set on a corner point.

Indicates that a profile is set on the passing point with offset.

Indicates that:
  • A profile is set on this route element.
  • The sections before and after the route element are orthogonal.

Only displayed if the Orthogonalization Assistant is selected.

Indicates that:
  • The route element is a passing point with offset.
  • A profile is set on this passing point.
  • The sections before and after the passing point are orthogonal.

Only displayed if the Orthogonalization Assistant is selected.

Modes

The Immersive Branch Definition features are divided in modes.

Depending on the object you are editing, different modes are available to allow you to create or edit a branch route.

Modes Related to Branches

ModeIconDescription
Auto Routing ModeFacilitates the design by choosing automatically the most natural way to route a branch through route elements.
Note: When you select Immersive Branch Definition in the action bar, Auto Routing Mode is activated by default.
Removal Mode Remove a route element from a branch route or deletes an entire branch.
Creation Mode Creates branch points and manages protections.
Transform Mode Translates branch sections and rotates branch profiles.

Modes Related to Route Elements

ModeIconDescription
Manual Routing ModeProvides more flexibility to manually add route elements to a branch route.

Tip: Clicking a yellow indicator enables to switch from the Auto Routing Mode to the Manual Routing Mode. Selecting the branch in the work area switches back to the Auto Routing Mode.

When Manual Routing Mode is activated, the Robot is snapped to the selected route element to let you design the route from this element.

Two directional arrows enables you to define the position of the next route element to be added to the route:

  • : the new element is placed after the selected route element.
  • : the new element is placed before the selected element.

Move ModeEdits the position of passing points.
Tangency ModeApplies tangency on devices or on passing points.
Edition Mode Arranges segments in a support.

Assistants and Options

Immersive Branch Definition provides routing assistants and options to facilitate the design of your branches.

These features are available from the top-right corner of the Branch Properties panel.

Assistant or OptionIconDescription
Unused Point DeletionDeletes a passing point when it is removed from the route of a branch.

See Deleting Passing Points.

Orthogonalization AssistantOrthogonalizes a branch or a branch section.

See Orthogonalizing Branches.

Copilot AssistantHelps design parallel and orthogonal branch portions.

See Creating Orthogonal and Parallel Branch Portions.

Context-based Routing Assistant

Helps design a branch route based on the geometric context of an assembly.

See Routing in Context.

Point with Offset AssistantDisplays the manipulator that allows to create passing points with an offset from a surface.

See Working with Surfaces.
