Essentials Section

The Essentials section of the action bar contains the most used commands. These commands are segregated in different containers.

This page discusses:

Wireframe Container

Positioned Sketch
Creates a positioned sketch.
See Creating a Positioned Sketch.

Natural Shape
Creates a Natural Shape feature.
See Natural Shape User's Guide: Creating Shapes: Creating Simple Shapes.

Point
Creates a point.
See Creating Points.

Line
Creates a line.
See Creating Lines.

Plane
Creates a plane.
See Creating Planes.

Axis System
Creates an axis system
See Defining an Axis System.

Solid Container

Pad
Creates a pad from an open or a closed profile.
See Creating Pads.

Pocket
Creates a pocket in a 3D shape from a profile.
See Creating Pockets.

Shaft
Creates a shaft by rotating a profile about an axis.
See Creating Shafts.

Groove
Creates a groove by rotating a profile about an axis.
See Creating Grooves.

Rib
Creates a rib by sweeping a profile along a center-curve.
See Creating Ribs.

Hole Container

Thread/Tap
Creates a thread or a tap of specified standards.
See Creating Threads and Taps.

Hole
Creates holes in a 3D part.
See Creating Holes.

Thickness Container

Close Surface
Closes a surface.
See Creating Close Surface Features.

Thick Surface
Adds material to a surface in two opposite directions.
See Creating Thick Surfaces.

Shell
Empties a feature by removing material, while keeping a thickness on its sides.
See Creating a Shell.

Stiffener
Creates a brace or a rib, to a wall or a stand-off to strengthen it.
See Creating Stiffeners.

Transformations Container

Rectangular pattern
Creates multiple instances of a object, in a rectangular pattern.
  • Select the object to be replicated.
  • Select the direction and enter the parameters such as instance(s), length, and spacing, to configure the pattern.
See Creating Rectangular Patterns.

Circular Pattern
Creates multiple instances of an object, in a circular pattern.
  • Select the object to be replicated.
  • Enter the parameters such as instance(s), total angle, and angular spacing, to configure the pattern.
See Creating Circular Patterns.

User Pattern
Creates multiple instances of a feature, at specified positions.
See Creating User Patterns.

Mirror
Mirrors a body or a list of features using symmetry of a face or a plane.
See Creating Mirror Features.

Split Container

Split
Splits a body using a plane, face or surface.
See Creating Splits.

Refine Container

Edge Fillet
Creates a fillet of a constant or variable radius that is tangent to and joins two surfaces.
See Creating Edge Fillets.

Chamfer
Creates a chamfer by adding or removing a flat section from a selected edge to create a beveled surface between the two original faces common to that edge.
See Creating Chamfers.

Draft
Creates a constant or a variable draft based on a neutral element.
See Creating Basic Draft Features.

Boolean Container

Assemble
Assembles different bodies to create a complex geometry.
Select the bodies to be assembled.
See Assembling Bodies.

Add
Unites a body with another body via a Boolean operation.
Select the bodies to be added.
See Adding Bodies.

Remove
Removes the material of the first body which is common with the second, from the latter via a Boolean operation.
Select the bodies to be separated.
See Removing Bodies.

Intersect
Computes a Boolean intersection operation. The material resulting from an intersection operation between two bodies is the material shared by intersecting bodies.
Select the bodies to be operated on.
See Intersecting Bodies.

Structure Container

Body
Inserts a new body.
Inserting a New Body.

Geometrical Set
Inserts a geometrical set.
Managing Geometrical Sets.
