Edition Section

The Edition section provides commands for designing 2D diagrams of electrical systems.

This page discusses:



Create New Reference
Inserts a new reference under the functional, logical or physical node.
Select a node in the tree to position the new reference. Enter a name for your object and click OK.


Create From Existing Reference
Inserts an existing reference under the Logical node.
Select the desired reference in the tree.


Insert New View
See Flyout for Creating Layout, Sheet and Diagram views.


Duplicate View
Duplicates a diagram view with its content.
Select the view to be copied and select the sheet under which the duplicated view will be copied.

Insert Frame And Title Block
Inserts a frame symbol in the background view.
Select it in the list and click OK. The symbol is retrieved from the Data Setup.

Insert Symbol Representation
Creates a symbol representation in a logical/physical component.
Select a logical/physical component. Enter a name, and then click Finish.

Create Space Link

Spreadsheet

Create Equipment Connector
See Flyout for Creating Electrical Components.


Connector Port Links
See Flyout for Managing Connector Ports and Pins.


Add Extremity to Net
Branches a net on an existing route in a diagram view.
Select the component to be connected, and then select the existing net route.

Create Connection
Creates a logical connection between two logical components.
Select the two components to be connected, and then select a type. Click Next. Enter a name for the logical connection, and then click OK.

Cable Links
Links wires to a cable.
To link a wire to a cable, select the cable, and then select the wire to be linked.

Net Group Links
See Flyout for Managing Electrical Links.


Harness/Content Links
Links connectors to a harness.
To create or break a link between a harness and a connector, select the logical harness to be linked and then, select the connector.

Manage Terminal Blocks Links
Links terminal block to a parent terminal block.
Click the parent terminal block, and then click the terminal block to be linked with the parent terminal block.

Generate Cable Group Content
Creates the content of a cable group.
Beforehand, a cable and a cable group must be created.
See Creating Cable Group Content.


Electrical Calculation
Calculates the total load on a fuse according to the circuit components and the topology.

Generate Net Diagram
Generate a net diagram view in one click.
For more information, see Flyout for Managing Net and Wire Diagrams.

Create Space Link
Creates links between logical components and space references.
Select the logical component and retrieve the space references.

Delete Space Link
Deletes links between logical components and space references.
Select the logical component, the space reference, and click Delete Relation.

Spreadsheet
Displays the selected structure in the Spreadsheet.

Floating Spreadsheet
Displays the content of a model in a table in the same tab.

Switch to Edition with Children
Switches to edition a selected function/logical component and its first level children.
This commands helps edit, and then save your modification on this function/logical component and on its first level children.

Switch to Read only with Children
Switches to read only a selected function/logical component and its first level children.
This commands helps reserve the edition of this function/logical component and its children.

Flyout for Creating Layout, Sheet and Diagram views



Insert New View
Inserts a view containing a diagram view.
Enter a name for your view and click Finish.

Insert Existing View
Inserts an existing view.
See Inserting an Existing Diagram View.


Insert New Sheet
Inserts a new sheet.
Enter a name for your sheet and click Finish.


Insert New Layout
Inserts a new layout.
Enter a name for your layout and click Finish.

Create Equipment Connector
Creates an equipment connector with pins.
Enter the equipement name. Choose the type of connector and pins to be created. Enter the number of pins to be created and the name of the first pin. Click Add, and then OK.

Rename Content
Renames the content of electrical components.
Select the electrical component, and then select the pin whose content need to be modified. Modify the suffix, the name or the prefix of the pin, and then click OK.

Create Terminals
Creates terminals to insert them under a terminal block.
Select the terminal block under which the terminals will be created. Enter the number of terminals to be created and the name of the first terminal. Click Add and then OK.

Manage Relay Content
Adds content under a relay reference.
Select the relay and click Manage Relay Content. In the dialog box, select the type of content to be added and the symbol.

Create Equipment Terminal Block
Creates an equipment terminal block.
Select the equipment under which the terminal block will be created, and then enter a name for the terminal block. Choose the desired type of terminal block and terminals. Choose the number of terminals to be created, and then the name of the first terminal. Click Add, and then OK.

Create Equipment Shell
Creates an equipment shell.
Select the equipment under which the shell will be created. Enter a name for the shell and choose the desired type of shell. Choose the number of connectors to be created and the name of the first connector. Click Add, and then OK.

Flyout for Managing Connector Ports and Pins



Connector Port Links
Structures a group of connector ports, terminal connectors and pins.
To insert or remove a pin, select the connector port, and then select the pins to be inserted or removed.

Pin Allocation Management
Reserves several pins of a component for a specific usage.
Select them in the pin selection tree, and then click Reserve.

Flyout for Creating Cables



Create New Cable
Creates a cable.
Select a parent component. In the New Content dialog box, expand the Electrical Logical tab, and then click Logical Cable.

Create Cable with Last Type
Creates a cable with the same type as the cable created before.
Select a parent component. In the Logical Cable dialog box, enter a name for the cable.

Net Group Links
Links nets / net groups to a net group.
To link nets to a net group, select the net group and then, select the nets to be grouped.

Net/Wire Links
Links wires or cables to a net/net group.
To link wires to a net, select the net, and then select the wires to be linked.

Automatic Net/Wire Links
Gathers automatically wires within a net.
Click the electrical system. Review the report and click Apply to validate the links between wires and nets.
